The challenge was to design a supergraphic mural for a math classroom, commissioned by the math department. My solution was to create a mural inspired by the concept of black holes and wormholes—tunnels derived from the mathematical theory of general relativity (Einstein’s theory of gravity) that attract and absorb nearby objects. This idea informed a visual that creates the illusion of fading into the distance, drawing in the viewer’s attention much like a black hole. To maintain clarity and avoid overwhelming students, especially during exams, I incorporated simple math symbols such as addition (+) and division (÷) into the design, rather than complex equations.
